Clear, practical answers to the questions we’re asked most—so you know what to expect before you book.

General

Q: What does a chiropractor do?

A: We assess how your spine, joints, muscles and nerves are moving and loading. Treatment blends hands‑on care (from gentle mobilisations to adjustments), soft‑tissue work, and personalised exercise so you can move more freely and get back to what you love.

Q: Is chiropractic safe?

A: For most people, chiropractic care is considered low risk when provided by a registered practitioner. We screen for red flags first, adapt techniques to your health history, and use the least force necessary to achieve change.

Q: What conditions do you help with?

A: Common reasons to see us include mechanical low‑back and neck pain, headaches related to neck tension, mid‑back stiffness, hip/SIJ irritation, and sports‑related overload (e.g., golf, surfing, pickleball). If something falls outside our lane, we’ll refer on.

Q: Will I be “cracked” every time?

A: Not necessarily. Adjustments are just one option. We also use low‑force methods, joint mobilisations, soft‑tissue techniques, and exercise. You’ll always know what we’re doing and why, and you can opt out of any technique.

Q: Do I need X‑rays or scans first?

A: Usually not. Imaging is reserved for specific presentations (e.g., trauma, red flags, or when results would change the plan). Bring any scans you already have—we’re happy to review them with you.

Your First Visit

Q: What happens at my first appointment?

A: We take your history, assess movement, strength and relevant orthopaedic/neurological tests, explain findings in plain language, and begin treatment if appropriate. You’ll leave with a simple plan and targeted home exercises.

Q: How many visits will I need?

A: It depends on your goals, how long the issue has been around, and how you respond. We aim for early change in 2–4 visits, then space out sessions while you build capacity with exercises.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Comfortable clothing you can move in. For shoulder/hip assessments, shorts or a singlet can help.

Q: Can I bring previous reports?

A: Yes—please do. Prior imaging, letters from other providers, medication lists and your training history are all useful.

Techniques & Tools

Q: What techniques do you use?

A: Diversified adjustments (when suitable), low‑force and instrument‑assisted options, joint mobilisations, soft‑tissue release/IASTM, taping, and exercise prescription. We also integrate dry needling where appropriate and consented.

Q: Do you treat during pregnancy?

A: Yes—care is adapted with comfortable positioning (e.g., side‑lying) and low‑force techniques. We collaborate with your care team as needed.

Q: Do you see children or older adults?

A: Yes. Techniques and loads are tailored to age, size and health profile, with parental/guardian consent for minors.

Safety & When to Seek Medical Care

Q: When should I see my GP or go to ED instead?

A: Seek urgent medical review for new limb weakness or numbness, bowel/bladder changes, saddle anaesthesia, unexplained weight loss, fever, history of significant trauma, or constant/unremitting night pain.

Q: What if I’m sore after treatment?

A: Mild, short‑lived post‑treatment soreness can happen (like after a new workout). It should settle within 24–48 hours. If it doesn’t, or symptoms worsen, contact us.

Fees, Referrals & Rebates (Australia)

Q: Do you accept private health?

A: We provide onsite claiming suitable for private health check with your insurance whether you have extras and are covered for chiropractic.

Q: Can I use a GP Care Plan (CDM/EPC)?

A: If your GP has placed you on a chronic disease plan, you may be eligible for Medicare‑subsidised visits. Ask your GP about your eligibility and the current rebate rules.

Q: TAC/WorkCover/NDIS?

A: Coverage depends on your insurer, approval and case details. We can supply reports/receipts to support your claim.

Q: What’s your cancellation policy?

A: We appreciate as much notice as possible so we can offer the time to others. Missed or late‑cancelled appointments may attract a fee.

Aftercare & Self‑Management

Q: What can I do at home between sessions?

A: Keep moving within comfort, use heat/ice as advised, and complete your exercises. Small “micro‑breaks” during screens or long drives help more than marathon stretch sessions.

Q: How do I prevent issues returning?

A: Build capacity: regular walking, simple strength (hinge, squat, push/pull), and brief mobility for your stiffest areas. We’ll tailor a minimal‑effective routine that fits your week.
